Who does what

Four kinds of people touch this product. Each needs a different slice, and the component pages are written so none of them has to ask another.

Start with Foundations. The palette, type ramp and spacing scale are fixed, and the components are assembled from them. Before proposing a new component, check whether an existing one covers the job. Most new requests turn out to be an existing component with different content.

The When section on each page is yours. It is the reasoning that would otherwise live only in someone’s head.

The How and Anatomy sections carry the class names and structure. The Accessibility section is not optional reading: several components carry obligations that are invisible in the browser but enforced by the checks in the accessibility standard.

The stylesheet is not here. It ships from the site, and the Storybook generates its copy from the running pages, so there is no second version to update.

Go to the Content section on any component page, then the content rules. Length limits are real: several components clip or fall back to a simpler layout when copy runs long, and the page says which.

There is also a list of phrases that must never appear on the site. It is short and it is absolute.

Use Checks before you ship on each page, and the accessibility standard for the site-wide rules. Every check is written to be runnable without reading code.

The site is held to zero automated accessibility errors on every page, from two independent scanners. That is a pass or fail, not a target.
